Bo Derek is ready to soar with Sharknado 3. Known as the perfect 10 for decades, Bo hasn’t lost her sense of humor. And Derek feels that Sharknado 3: Oh, Hell No is the ideal vehicle for a major comeback, reported the Sydney Morning Herald.
While it’s been 36 years since Bo turned into a 10 by wearing a skin-colored bathing suit to run lightly along the beach in 10, Derek has stayed forever labeled in the public’s mind in that role. So, when the actress was offered the chance to do something decidedly different in Sharknado 3: Oh, Hell No, she jumped the shark to go for it.
Now 58, Bo also is active in environmentalism. And that interest helped helped her make the decision.
“I haven’t worked in a long time, I was in the Galapagos Islands with a group of conservationists and we’d been working on shark-finning for a long time,” explained Derek.
When she told them about the Sharknado casting call, they immediately encouraged her to go from 10 to tornadoes containing sharks, revealed Bo.
“I said, you’ll never guess, I just got a call for this movie, Sharknado,” recalled Derek. “And they all said, oh, we love Sharknado. I thought they’d say, don’t do it, it’s terrible for our cause, [but] they said, do it, it’s fantastic. So I did it.”
Derek plays May Wexler in Sharknado 3. May is the mother to Tara Reid’s character, April Wexler, and wife to Gil, portrayed by Baywatch legend David Hasselhoff.
In addition to Bo, look for singer Michael Bolton, Shark Tank star Mark Cuban, talk show host Jerry Springer, and the hosts of the Today show, Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie.
What are the best moments from Bo’s new film? In addition to Derek, Sharknado 3 contains some truly memorable quotes, reported Today.
“I know how this is going to sound, but I can sense these storms now. These sharks have a scent, and it’s not a pretty one,” says Ian Ziering.
“They used to call me a shark, but now I’m looked upon as a beacon of hope,” declares Mark Cuban, who plays the President.
“Could be worse. Could be zombies,” points out Frankie Muniz.
But the best lines of all came from David Hasselhoff’s Twitter commentary.
“Hoff in space! No place is safe! #Sharknado3 #OhHellNo @SharknadoSyfy”
As for Bo, the future looks bright, despite Derek’s admitted fear of aging, reported the Inquisitr.
“I feel I’m aging like other people,” explained the 58-year-old actress. “I feel it’s not fair. I don’t mind the years. I just mind the look. I miss my skin.”
