Bindi Irwin Dating, But Boyfriend Doesn’t Change ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin’s Daughter Love For Wildlife [Photos]

Bindi Irwin is dating and has a boyfriend. Bindi, known as the daughter of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, turns 17 on Friday and is ready to reveal selected elements of her dating life, reported Entertainment Tonight.

“There is someone special in my life right now, and I’m really happy with that,” Bindi revealed “Life is wonderful at the moment.”

Irwin declined to share the name of the boyfriend she is dating, but it is known to be wakeboarder Chandler Powell. And although Bindi is famed for her love of khaki and crocodiles, Irwin also enjoys dressing up for dating.

But boyfriends of Bindi, beware. Irwin also revealed that her father informed her about the dating test that he would give potential boyfriends, reported Us Weekly.

“Dad said that if I did find someone to date that he would have to prove himself by swimming across our largest crocodile pond!” Bindi shared. “And if he made it to the other side, he could go out with me. I don’t think we’re going to go to that extreme, but it would still certainly have to be a very tough person to date me.”

As far as what Irwin looks for in a boyfriend, she has certain dating requirements that echo the life lessons of Bindi’s conservationist father.

“He would have to be very kind and loyal,” Irwin said of the qualities she wants in a boyfriend. “You’ve gotta love the outdoors, you’ve gotta be able to go camping and love wildlife and have that same passion for making the world a better place.”

Bindi also expressed the affection that she and her younger brother, Robert, 11, will always have for their father, who passed away from a stingray attack when he was only 44.

“He was like our living, breathing superhero,” said Irwin. “He was so passionate and clever. I watch Robert, and he’s so much like Dad in the way that he talks and walks. It’s phenomenal.”

So who is Bindi currently dating? Irwin’s boyfriend is 18-year-old Chandler Powell, and the wakeboarder dished on his new date, reported the Daily Mail.

“While it is true that Bindi is very special to me, we are very excited about focusing on our Wildlife Warriors work,” said Powell.

Rather than share intimate details, Chandler emphasized that the two share a passion for continuing Steve Irwin’s legacy.

“We are keeping our personal lives personal, and together we are focusing on conservation work both in Australia and internationally with Wildlife Warriors,” he added.

Bindi and Chandler have toured the wildlife park Australia Zoo, created by Irwin’s father.

Irwin isn’t alone in being careful about how she describes her boyfriend. As the Inquisitr reported, Susan Sarandon, 68, recently denied reports that she had reunited with her “boy toy” 37-year-old Jonathan Bricklin, despite public appearances.
