Jennifer Garner Spends More Time Breastfeeding Than Acting, She Says

Actress Jennifer Garner may have just been presented with the Female Star of the Year award at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, but she has her mom to keep her grounded.

Jennifer Garner and husband Ben Affleck are now parents to three kids- daughters Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3, and son Samuel, who nearly three months old. Like any working mom, Garner has been intermittently out of commission in caring for a newborn- which, with her son’s birth in November, means she has not been very visible in recent months.

At least, in the films. Maybe you haven’t seen Jennifer Garner headlining a box office blockbuster, but she has had a different sort of visibility. When discussing her award honors with her mom, Garner says, she was reminded that she hadn’t acted much while doing mom duty. Garner relates her mom’s comments:

“I told my mom the other day I was getting this award… and I was excited and feeling proud and thought she was going to be proud, and then there was this pause on the other end of the line… She said, ‘Jennifer, do these people know you haven’t worked in the last year?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I feel they probably know what I’ve been up to. I haven’t stepped foot on a set. You are correct, mom.'”

Heh, that’s so mom. It’s kind of cool to know that Jennifer Garner’s mom is riding her ass like everyone else’s mom. Garner continues:

“She said, ‘Can they take this back? Because every time I talk to you, you are breastfeeding, you are running car pool, you are on the library committee- you are not acting!’ I said it’s not all about the now, it’s things you’ve done in the past or in the future, and she was like, ‘Honey, you have a weird job.'”

In the speech she gave at the awards show, Garner thanks Affleck for taking “the maniacs” so she could be present at the event.
