Father Arrested For Alleged Severe Beating Of Toddler During Potty Training

Bryant Davis, the father of a 20-month-old toddler, is behind bars for the alleged beating of his daughter. According to KHOU, the toddler sustained severe bodily injury after she “peed and pooped on the living room floor,” the affidavit revealed. Although Davis initially seemed oblivious to his daughter’s injuries, insisting that the toddler had fallen outside while playing, further interrogation led to his shocking admission.

According to KXAN, he cited that she only had “minor injuries” following the fabricated outdoor accident and that her condition gradually got worse over a couple of days. However, on July 17, he finally agreed to give investigators a detailed reenactment of the series of events that took place on July 9. After the little girl’s potty accident, Davis became infuriated and wanted to “teach her a lesson.” He reportedly used a baby doll to provide a visual example of how he’d abused his daughter.

Police say that after she’d urinated and defecated on herself, Davis admitted that he’d yelled at her and hit her in the “rib area” before putting her over his knee and spanking her. Then, according to the warrant, he “forcefully took the victim to the restroom and told her to use the restroom while he cleaned up the waste from the living room.” But when he returned to the bathroom, the little girl was reportedly standing inside the toilet bowl, which only angered Davis even more.

He stated that when he removed her from the toilet, he slammed her onto the toilet seat, which is how the toddler reportedly hit her head on the ceramic toilet lid. However, the horrific abuse didn’t stop there. He revealed that he’d taken her back into the living room where he finished “teaching her a lesson.” Even after having her head hit against the toilet lid, he stuck her in the back of the head yet again.

When her breathing became labored later in the day, Davis stated that he’d given her an inhaler. But, apparently, that led to yet another injury. He admitted that he’d forcefully removed the mouthpiece of the inhaler from her mouth while she had it clenched with her teeth, making one of her front teeth fall out.

Doctors at the Dell Children’s Medical Center stated that all of the child’s injuries were the result of physical abuse. “CT scans of the child showed 16 rib fractures in various stages of healing, lacerations of the liver and spleen, possible collapsed lung and bleeding in the brain,” reports KVUE. The toddler is reportedly in critical condition and the 3-year-old in the house has also been removed and placed

Although the family had no prior history of domestic violence, Davis himself has an extensive rap sheet. Over the past five years, he’s been arrested six times and has served more than four years behind bars for various crimes.

Davis’ Criminal History:

  • 2005 – Aggravated Robbery (Houston), pleaded guilty, served 2 years in jail

On Tuesday, July 21, Davis was arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. He now faces felony charges of injury to a child with serious bodily injury. He has been booked in the Travis County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
