Priest Accidentally Shows Gay Porn To Children, Takes Sabbatical From Priesthood

A priest in Ireland has been placed on sabbatical from the priesthood after he accidentally showed a group of grade school children and their teachers a PowerPoint presentation that featured gay porn.

Father Martin McVeigh admitted after the fact that he destroyed a memory stick containing “inappropriate imagery” just ahead of a church investigation.

The accidental case of pornography occurred as the children were preparing for their First Holy Communion.

In a church released statement on Sunday McVeigh apologize “for the hurt caused” by his actions and “his failure to check his presentation in advance.”

In the meantime the priest refused to take blame for the images, claims he was “not responsible for the presence of the offending images and in this respect I ask you to accept my innocence.”

In describing his attempt to hide the images Father McVeigh said:

“After the images were inadvertently shown, I immediately removed the memory stick from the laptop. In my shock and upset and in my concern to ensure that the images would never be shown again, I destroyed it later that evening.”

In speaking about the tough month he has had since the images were discovered the priest said:

“In the hope of bringing resolution and healing to the division and pain within the parish, I have taken the decision to ask Cardinal Brady to allow me to leave the parish of Pomeroy and to take sabbatical leave,” and “The memory of this awful episode will remain with me for the rest of my life.”

The church did announce that a forensic analysis was completed on Father McVeigh’s other computers and “no inappropriate imagery has been found.”

Cardinal Sean Brady said that father McVeigh will return to his place in the church after his sabbatical is completed.
