Niall Horan: With Bad Influences Or A Good Entourage Choice For Justin Bieber?

If you read Niall Horan's recent headlines, it can look like he is hanging out with the wrong crowd. On the other hand, Niall Horan may be a good influence -- and the gossip columns are simply writing headlines about Niall Horan and Justin Bieber in a way to create shock value.

Fans of Niall Horan have been extremely interested in this "mystery blonde" that he has been hanging out with -- but is his new rumored love interest close with people that might be questionable (such as Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez)?

Or, is Niall Horan the good influence they want to be around because Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are now interested in personal growth?

On that same note, fans are also concerned about an alleged picture with Justin Bieber where Niall Horan is seen with what might have been a glass pipe used for drug use -- but these are speculations.

The Daily Mail reports on July 20, "There is nothing to suggest any of the boys have been taking drugs."

While this recent picture with Niall Horan does not confirm that Justin Bieber is currently using drugs of any kind, the fact of the matter is that Justin Bieber has admitted to having a problem in the past (but not necessarily drug or alcohol problems).

In fact, Justin Bieber has never admitted to having a drug or drinking issue -- but he has "apologized for his behavior." The Mirror transcribed Justin Bieber's famous "apology" video on January 29 where he said, "... I didn't want to come off arrogant or conceited or basically how I've been acting the past year, year and a half."

Justin Bieber also explained his less-than-savory behavior previous to January 2015 by stating, "Um, just being young and growing up in this business is hard."

Making mistakes is what being a young adult is all about, and fans appreciated Justin Bieber trying to make things right as far as taking a stand against how he "has been acting over the past year."

Nonetheless, Justin Bieber may not be who Niall Horan should be worried about. As it appears, the "mystery blonde" Niall Horan is allegedly spending a lot of time with also has a best friend that has been to rehab -- Selena Gomez.

RadarOnline spoke directly with Selena Gomez's public relations representatives around the first of February 2014, and they confirmed that Selena was admitted to a program -- but it was not strictly a drug and alcohol rehab facility.

Cosmopolitan states on February 5, 2014, "Selena Gomez's PR reps confirmed to RadarOnline this morning that the singer underwent two weeks in rehab last month, dealing with 'emotional issues' at The Meadows clinic in Arizona. She underwent the clinic's DAWN program, which... focuses on 'substance dependence, trauma, family dynamics, mental health and relapse prevention.'"

Since that time in early 2014, Selena Gomez has bounced back better than ever. She is spending more time with her friends, and it is alleged that Selena Gomez has given the "green light" to her bestie Raquelle Stevens about Niall Horan.

The Daily Mail pointed out on July 18 that Niall Horan likes to hug Raquelle Stevens -- but no one has confirmed they are actually together.

In the case that Niall Horan and Raquelle Stevens do get together, Niall would be the perfect friend for anyone he hangs out with in Raquelle Stevens' friend group. In addition, it looks like Justin Bieber is on the hunt for new friends.

In a March 31 interview with USA Today, Justin Bieber said, "I'm growing, figuring some stuff out. As you do when you grow up.... Now, I'm around some pretty awesome people who are supporting me and have my back."

When asked if his entourage had changed, Justin Bieber said, "Yeah, I left a lot of people behind who weren't on the same journey I was on, and I've got a lot of new people in my life who are pouring into me, and not taking away from me."

Niall Horan is a great friend in the first place because he is not known for being a heavy drinker or drug user -- and having a friend like that is a very smart idea for anyone. Niall Horan also has one particular characteristic of being a "true friend" (as his pal Tulisa Contostavlos knows well).

In an article about "what makes a friend worthy of the name," Psychology Today says one of the primary traits is that this person is "a good influence." They go on to say, "A true friend inspires you to live up to your best potential, not to indulge your basest drives."

In other words, it is possible that we are seeing Niall Horan pictured more often with Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber because Niall is the kind of person they can build a real friendship with -- and feel inspired to live up to their "best potential."
