‘The X-Files’ Beefs Up Cast With Robbie Amell And Lauren Ambrose

Looks like the The X-Files reboot is looking to throw things into high gear. The Fox revival has found new FBI agents in Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose. Fans of the show shouldn’t worry, as David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are still reprising their roles as Dana Scully and Fox Mulder.

According to E!, the Fox revival currently has a six-episode order for a special event coming this January. When the news was first announced, Fox executives Dana Walden and Gary Newman released a statement about the legacy of The X Files, and how excited they are to open a new chapter.

“The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture—yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. We’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”

So we know that David and Gillian are set and ready to go, but what about Robbie and Lauren? Well, according to a source, Lauren Ambrose, known for Six Feet Under, will play Agent Einstein, and is described as a “sharp and confident” agent. Robbie Amell will play “smart and smooth” Agent Miller. We don’t exactly know if these two agents will become the next generation Mulder and Scully, seeing as there’s only going to be six episodes, but if the show takes off, anything can happen.

In terms of other guest stars, actors Joel McHale, Rhys Darby, and Annet Mahendru are coming on the show. Actor William B. Davis will also be reprising his role as The Smoking Man, as well.

New cast member Robbie Amell has already been tweeting out a few X-Files related tweets.

His cousin, actor Stephen Amell, got in on it too.

Fans are pretty pumped about the new additions.
