Kanye West To Debut New Steve McQueen-Directed Video As Pan American Games Petition Garners 50,000 Signatures

Kanye West is still on everyone’s lips, even if the words coming out aren’t always nice. However, according to A.V. Club, Kim Kardashian’s hubby has something very exciting up his sleeve and it has something to do with 12 Years a Slave Director Steve McQueen.

“But McQueen decided to put his newfound cultural cache to even greater purpose: He picked up the phone and said, ‘Gimme Kanye West’s number.’ And now, the director has shot a video for West’s upcoming album, set to screen this week at the Los Angeles County Museum Of Art.”

A.V. Club goes on to note that the video contains two songs: “All Day” and “I Feel Like That.” The total time for West’s video will clock in around nine minutes. The comments after the article were quite telling in the vitriol people still aim at Kanye West.

However, Kanye has chosen to — at least in public — dismiss his critics. However, he will no doubt hear about the fact that a petition to stop him from performing at the Pan American Games closing ceremony has garnered over 50,000 signatures. The mission statement of the petition isn’t as nasty as one would expect regarding Kanye West.

“The options for Toronto artists are far from limited and choosing someone like Kanye West raises several concerns among the people. Why was a local artist or group not chosen and supported, just as our local athletes are throughout the games?”

However, the people signing the petition were pretty harsh.

“This is completely inappropriate for a Canadian hosted event. Not to mention, Kanye West’s public persona is hardly representative of someone who embodies grace in the face of defeat, humility, empathy, fair play, etc.,” writes Denise McGuire of Toronto, Canada.

“Kanye West’s words and conduct are antithetical to the spirit of the PanAm Games. Canada abounds in musical talent that is undoubtedly better suited for this event and should be featured at the closing ceremonies,” writes Jane Mountain of Caledon, Canada.

Kanye West gets protested everywhere he goes. CTV News quotes a recent petition to remove Kanye West from Glastonbury a couple months back.

“Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend Glasto and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment.”

Kanye ended up playing the show and received mixed reviews. However, he wasn’t booed off stage like everybody thought he would be. Do you think Kanye West will be booed off stage at the Pan American Games? Let us know in the comments section.
