Julia Roberts: On Her Make Up Routine, Total Trust In Stylists, And Her NYC Pad

Julia Roberts has been a radiant beauty on many red carpets and has been at the mercy of countless stylists of all forms within the beautifying process to get her already gorgeous exterior to a level of near perfection.

Roberts must be a dream to work on for any makeup and hair stylist- with her bone structure and those thick flowing locks of hers. In addition it’s a known fact this pretty woman is also a dream to work with due to her demeanor and full trust she puts in each individual who has the opportunity to glamify her.

However it is Julia’s longtime relationship with makeup artist Genevieve Herr and hairstylist Serge Normant that has allowed the Notting Hill star to be so comfortable while prepping for events. Herr shared details with People Magazine about Roberts’ usual disposition while in the hands of her style team.

“Julia never gives directions. She says, ‘You’re the experts,’ and she sits there and is 100 percent all ours. As an artist, that’s important for me.”

Herr, who has been Julia’s makeup artist for a full 12 years now, essentially communicated that Julia puts full trust and the direction of her look and beautifying techniques in the fully capable hands of her team.

But what are the techniques and tricks to creating an even more beautiful Julia? Herr admits that the route she takes with the makeup she applies is always a perfect match to Roberts’ personality as opposed to being all about her striking features.

“Julia is always laughing, so I try to keep her makeup fun because that fits her personality.”

Genevieve additionally shared her go to tricks and tips for mastering Julia’s look with a few easy steps, noting that “It’s important to use lighter textures as you get older. I usually use peach,” yet the candid makeup artist admits that when there is a festive event or gala for Julia to attend, she says “Let’s give you a little more blush.'” Soft shimmery powders and translucent highlighting creams, applied to the cheek bones add to this soft-toned palette.

For the eye, Herr typically contrasts the light and soft-colored foundation and powders by applying the smoky look followed by curling Julia’s lashes twice and applying Lancome Grandiose mascara. To finish the look off the makeup guru often opts for Rouge in Love in Sweet Embrace lipstick in order to add “dimension.”

Although Julia is devoted to her team of stylists and does not seem keen on passing them off to another gracious starlet, Roberts is set to bid adieu to one longtime asset in her life. The 47- year-old is set to sell her New York City Greenwich penthouse apartment and has listed it for a whopping $4.5 million. “The 2,000-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom co-op is at 45 West 10th Street, a postwar building between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.”

It’s been reported that although Roberts loves New York, she has been spending more time on the West Coast, which seems the reason behind the decision to sell her beachy-styled retreat in the Big Apple.
