Poison Drummer Ricky Rockett Files For Divorce

Poison drummer Rikki Rockett has filed for divorce from his wife of seven years, the Daily Mail is reporting.

Rockett (real name: Richard Allen Ream) is also seeking joint custody of his and his wife’s, Melanie’s, two kids: 6-year-old Jude and 2-year-old Lucy.

An unnamed source close to Rockett tells TMZ that the divorce filing asks for the judge to honor the terms of the couple’s prenuptial agreement that Rockett made Melanie sign before they tied the knot.

“He wants to make sure she takes not a cent more in spousal support than the agreed upon amount.”

How much money in spousal support Rockett’s soon-to-be ex-wife will get will likely remain secret due to the terms of the prenup, but it’s likely to be quite a bit: according to Celebrity Net Worth, the 53-year-old Rockett is worth an estimated $15 million.

As part of the divorce proceeding, Rockett is also putting up for sale the couple’s five-bedroom mansion north of L.A., listing it for $1.3 million.

Rockett was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and before hooking up with Bret Michaels and forming the glam rock band Poison in the early 1980s, worked a variety of odd jobs, including as a hairdresser. For a few years, Rockett and his Poison band mates worked the L.A. music scene, broke and playing in seedy West Hollywood clubs to get by.

The band’s big break came in 1986, with the release of the EP Look What the Cat Dragged In, which spawned three hit singles, made Poison a household name, and made Rockette a multimillionaire almost overnight. Throughout the remainder of the 1980s, Poison sold out arenas, released platinum-selling albums, and lived the Rock & Roll lifestyle of sex- and drug-fueled partying across the globe.

By the 1990s, drug addiction, infighting, and the emergence of grunge rock spelled the end of Poison. The band went through several lineup changes, but Rikki Rockett remained with the band through every incarnation. These days, Poison is back to its original lineup — Rockett, Bret Michaels, C.C. DeVille, and Bobby Dall.

When he’s not behind the drums for Poison, Rockett is managing his drum-making business, Rockett Drum Works, or spending time at his favorite hobby: building and launching model rockets (go figure).

As of this post, Rikki Rockett has not commented publicly on his divorce.
