Derek Jeter: Nickelodeon Honors Jeter With Legends Award, Slimes Him With Golden Goo

Derek Jeter was honored by Nickelodeon on Thursday, presented with the lifetime achievement Legends Award, but the former New York Yankees shortstop wasn’t about to get off the stage without a serious slime attack! According to NewsMax, the now-retired MLB player got completely doused with a golden goo (usually the slime is green), but kept a smile on his face regardless.

“To all the kids out there: dream big, set your goals high, work extremely hard at it, and surround yourself with positive people. Most importantly, be a good person. If you do that, everything else will work out,” Jeter said at the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports Awards, just before he got slimed.

Derek Jeter held his Nickelodeon award up for all to see, and smiled to the audience as they all cheered loudly for him.

According to the New York Daily News, the sliming of Derek Jeter was far from the normal bucket of green goop. Someone really turned on the downpours with this, and Jeter got completely soaked (of course, this is customary, so he was likely prepared for it).

After the spill, Jeter walked off the stage looking like a golden statue.

Aside from Derek Jeter getting slimed at the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports Awards, the former Bronx Bomber has been keeping busy in other ways. Jeter has been working on The Players’ Tribune, which is a media platform that he created that allows athletes to tell their side of the story in their own words.

He has also been spending a great deal of time with his model girlfriend, Hannah Davis. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there are rumors that the two are planning to get married, but despite reports of a “secret wedding,” the two haven’t legally tied the knot just yet. As of now, the two aren’t even engaged.
