Amy Shumer’s Suggestive ‘Star Wars’ Photo Shoot Was ‘Inappropriate’, Says Disney
Comedian Amy Schumer’s recent Star Wars photo shoot was “inappropriate,” says the Walt Disney Company.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, 34-year-old Schumer recently sat down with GQ photographers for a Star Wars-themed photo shoot, dressed as Princess Leia and posing with beloved characters R2-D2, C-3PO and Chewbacca, in poses that can most charitably be described as “suggestive.”

A third pic in the series, which won’t be shown in this post, shows Amy doing something with a lightsaber and her mouth that, for propriety’s sake, won’t be described any further. You can see it here.
While some fans were suitably impressed with the Amy Schumer Star Wars shoot, others were appalled, according to The Guardian, and took to social media to complain. That’s when the Walt Disney Company, which owns the rights to the Star Wars franchise, stepped in.
@CPThrio @icecoldpenguin Lucasfilm & Disney didn’t approve, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner

The Walt Disney Company bought the rights to the Star Wars franchise – and all of its attendant movies, comic books, novelizations, TV spinoffs, merchandising, and so on – in 2012 for $4 billion. The House of the Mouse is now working on rebooting the franchise, producing three feature films to continue the original six movies (the first of which, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, hits theaters in December), as well as producing a number of stand-alone spinoffs featuring beloved characters such as Han Solo and Boba Fett.
And both Lucasfilm (the company behind the Star Wars franchise) and the Walt Disney Company are fiercely protective of their copyrights, having sued, or threatened to sue, several people who have tried to use their characters without permission.
Still, not all Star Wars fans are upset about Amy Schumer’s photo shoot: at least one fan – none other than Luke Skywalker himself, actor Mark Hamill – seemed to think it was all in good fun.
Got excited when I saw @amyschumer @GQMagazine pics & thought she was just cast in Ep 8! We should be so lucky.
