Apple Expected To Announce 2nd Quarter Sales Of iPhone, MacBook, iPad, And Apple Watch

Tuesday is the day many Apple Watch haters have been waiting for — the day Apple announces official sales numbers of the Apple Watch. According to Macrumors, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo thinks the Apple Watch numbers will be low.

“Kuo remains conservative about the Apple Watch, pegging Apple’s second quarter shipments at roughly 3.9 million and growing to 5.5 million in the current quarter as supply shortages ease and availability expands to more countries.”

Macrumors goes on to note that Kuo believes it will be difficult for Apple to reach Wall Street consensus estimates at 15 million throughout the end of the year. Selling 3.9 million units of a first-generation product is usually considered a good thing, especially since the Apple Watch has only been available in stores for a month or so. While it’s true that the Apple Watch has not been as well-received as other first-generation products from the Cupertino company, the people who actually own the Watch really love it.

When it comes to the iPhone, Apple has nothing to worry about. Apple Insider explains the expected iPhone sales results.

“Using data from the UBS Evidence Lab iPhone Monitor, analyst Steven Milunovich on Thursday said he expects Apple shipped 51 million iPhone units in the just-concluded June quarter. A copy of the research note was provided to AppleInsider.”

The site goes on to note that customer demand for the iPhone in the 2nd quarter was at about 49.4 million units but reached 51 million with excess inventory. It appears that China showed the most demand during the 2nd quarter.

Sales of Apple’s MacBook series (including the Pro, Air, and just the new regular MacBook) might disappoint some people, especially because of a shortage of supplies of the new 12-inch Retina MacBook. Computerworld has the news on the supply shortage.

“More than three months after its on-sales debut, Apple’s Retina-equipped MacBook laptop still remains in short supply, with orders delayed two to three weeks before shipping, according to the company’s website.”

The site goes on to note that potential buyers of the MacBook are still told to order online. As a matter of fact, a visit to the Apple Store in Glendale, California, last weekend revealed that there was no stock of the device at the store. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the MacBook is in high demand.

Apple’s 3rd quarter sales results will certainly be lower than the 1st or 2nd quarter sales due to the fact potential iPhone buyers are waiting for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. However, it looks like 2015 is set to be Apple’s best year yet.
