New ‘Harry Potter’ Movie Focuses On Severus Snape And The Marauders [Video]

Many Harry Potter fans had a hard time letting Professor Severus Snape go after they found out that he was suffering from the world’s worst cast of unrequited love. Throughout the Harry Potter books and movies, they were only treated to glimpses of the compelling past that molded Snape into the man that he would become, and this just wasn’t enough.

Luckily, a few hardcore Harry Potter fans are bringing Snape back, and they won’t have to go searching for the Resurrection Stone in the Forbidden Forest to accomplish their goal. According to the Mirror, a Kickstarter-funded, fan-made movie set before Harry Potter’s birth is in the works. Severus Snape and the Marauders is set during 1978, and it gives fans a glimpse of the Marauder crew — James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew — celebrating the end of their days as Hogwarts students. However, their mood is tinged with melancholy — war is coming, and they’re starting to contemplate what it will be like to face some of their former classmates on the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Death Eater Snape is still trying to get back in Lily Evans’ good graces after calling her a “filthy Mudblood,” and it’s Lily he’s looking for when he runs into the Marauders at a bar.

“Knowing their dark future, and the part Snape might play, James decides to do something about his longtime rival once and for all,” the film’s description reads.

The unofficial Harry Potter prequel is a short film being produced by Broad Strokes, and it will be released for free on the Broad Strokes YouTube page sometime this December. The cast includes Mick Ignis as Severus Snape, Garrett Schweighauser as James Potter, Kevin Allen as Sirius Black, Paul Stanko as Remus Lupin, Zachary David as Peter Pettigrew, and Dani Jae as Lily Evans.

Unfortunately for Snape fans, it doesn’t look like J.K. Rowling will ever focus on the character in a future Harry Potter book. According to Hypable, the author has already stated that she doesn’t plan on revisiting the Marauders or other characters from that era simply because she’s not a fan of prequels.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan who just can’t get enough of Snape’s tragic tale, you might want to check out another fan-made video that the Inquisitr recently shared. It’s a YouTube video that features Snape and Lily’s story retold in chronological order using clips from the Harry Potter movies. Even the toughest of wizards will be waving their wands and shouting “Accio tissue!” after they watch it.

Do you think it’s awesome that Harry Potter fans are finding their own creative ways to revisit J.K. Rowlings’ beloved characters?
