Paul Rudd Tried To Flash Michael Douglas And Other ‘Ant-Man’ Stories [Videos]

Paul Rudd found it hard to be himself around veteran actor Michael Douglas when working on the Ant-Man set and tried a Basic Instinct-style stunt to relax matters. It apparently didn’t go so well.

As reported on Xpose, 46-year-old Paul Rudd felt a little overwhelmed working with Douglas and said he thought it would be funny and a bit of an ice-breaker to try and pull off the famous scene between the 70-year-old actor and his sexy counterpart, Sharon Stone, where the latter, well, revealed herself to Michael Douglas in the 1992 blockbuster Basic Instinct.

“It took me a while to be myself around him, but on the last day we were shooting a scene where he’s interrogating me across a table, and it suddenly hit me: ‘I could, ‘Basic Instinct’ him!’ So, I’m sitting there, trying to figure out how I can get my ‘kit’ out without anyone noticing…”

What Paul Rudd didn’t realize at the time was that this was a very bad idea, and he told Shortlist Magazine what happened and how his plan didn’t go well.

“So, before we start, I unzip my pants, get it out, and pull my T-shirt down to cover it. I’m all ready to do my exaggerated leg cross reveal, but my ‘kit’ gets caught in the elastic of my underwear. It’s all… smushed.”

“So, I’m sitting there, one hand pulling my T-shirt down, and the other trying to adjust myself, and I suddenly realize it looks like I’m… masturbating. Like, I’m trying to rub one out while Michael Douglas is giving a soliloquy. Eventually, he just stopped and said, ‘What are you, a f**king pervert?'”

As can be seen in the video above he also told the story to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

Seriously though, Paul Rudd is looking mighty good in his role in Ant-Man, and it turns out he’s worked on his healthy and fit appearance in the movie for a year before filming even began. Rudd told People that he had never before exercised harder for an extended length of time than he did for the Ant-Man role.

“My day was centered around fitness and health, and that was kind of a first. Every other time, I had to go about my day and try and find the time to work out. But [this time] everything else about my day kind of had to fit in around the workouts. I was going to be held accountable for it, and there was a reason for doing it. I wasn’t just randomly doing this kind of arbitrarily, which would have made it a lot harder.”

Giving up alcohol and carbs helped a lot, but his workout did the trick more than anything, including a lot of “flips and rolls and all that kind of stuff.”

Paul Rudd did add that he wasn’t “doing any kind of crazy parkour. You know, I couldn’t jump from that roof.”

In other news related to Ant-Man and Michael Douglas, the Inquisitr recently noted a joke made by Douglas about his own “big” penis at the screening party. It seems Paul Rudd wasn’t the only one with a quirky sense of humor on the cast.

Another interesting story came from the Ant-Man premiere when Evangeline Lilly introduced her well-defined baby bump to the audience. Lilly also mentioned that she was a little nervous about playing with megastar Douglas.

Marvel’s Ant-Man movie opened in cinemas this weekend. Have you seen it? Let us know your reactions below.
