George Eads’ Surprising ‘CSI’ Finale Decision Shocks Fans

CSI will end its time on CBS in September with a two-hour series finale, and fans are learning some new details about the big spin-off this weekend. Two major members of the show’s history will not appear in the finale.

TV Line reported on Friday that George Eads would not appear in the finale movie event. His character’s story wrapped in the CSI Season 15 finale, and he decided not to appear in the series finale. A re-write of the script did have to be done, but it was not a major revamp. Nick did not play a big role in the action for the finale.

According to a previous Inquisitr report, the decision to end CSI was made in May. Ted Danson will join CSI: Cyber, which will begin its second season this fall. That series stars Patricia Arquette.

It was also reported that William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger would return for the two-hour finale. Helgenberger currently stars in Season 3 of CBS series Under the Dome.

George Eads is not the only member of the CSI cast not returning for the CSI finale. Entertainment Weekly reported on Friday that Elisabeth Shue would not appear in the episode. The reason for her lack of appearance was not revealed by the report. However, this lack of appearance could relate to her character and not by her choice – as is the case with Eads.

In the Season 15 finale of the series, her character, Julie Finlay, was attacked by a serial killer, leading her to end up in a coma. Cinema Blend teased that the finale may begin with her funeral, and that would explain her no-show and the return of Petersen and Helgenberger.

Fans were not happy about George Eads’ decision not to appear in the finale. Many shared their upset over the news on Twitter after it was released on Friday.

Fans were also surprised by the news of the show’s cancellation in May. The series had seen a drop in the ratings in the last few seasons, but it was still doing well. An average of 8.3 million tuned in to watch episodes during Season 14, but CSI Season 15 saw a cut in the episode. That was very telling about the show’s fate.

The CSI series finale will air on September 27. Production on the episode will begin on July 29. What do you think? Are you surprised that George Eads will not appear in the finale?
