Florence And The Machine Debut ‘Breath Of Life’ For Snow White And The Huntsman

Florence + the Machine have a stunning lead song on the soundtrack for Universal’s summer release – Snow White and The Huntsman – starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Clafin and Charlize Theron.

On first listen “Breath of Life” sounds like a perfect fit for the Rupert Sanders directed fairytale epic. Front woman Florence Welch sings “I was looking for a breath of life” against emotively, powerful tribal drums and a backing choir. Apparently inspired by Queen Ravenna (played by Theron), Welch has described ‘Breath of Life’ as embodying the paradoxical “darkness” and “beauty”of that character.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Florence and the Machine have crossed paths with Kristen Stewart, SWATH’s titular heroine. The popular British band also penned and performed hit song “Heavy in your arms” for the third installment of Stephenie Meyer’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Florence and the Machine have ratched up over 17 music awards and even more nominations, including a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2010 – and more recently – Best Solo Artist and Best Track at the UK’s NME awards this year.

The soundtrack for Snow White and The Huntsman is slated for release on May 29 in the U.S, a few days before the film hits theaters on June 1.
