Michael Cera Cast As Robin In ‘Lego Batman’ Movie

Michael Cera has reportedly signed on to lend his voice to Batman’s sidekick, Robin, in Warner Bros. Lego Batman movie, a spinoff of the highly successful Lego Movie, which was released in 2014. Will Arnett will be reprising his role as the Caped Crusader, Slash Film reports.

Last year, the Inquisitr reported on the massive success of the movie and with that, the writers and the director have started working on a sequel. In addition, the Lego Movie is said to have several possible spinoffs, and Lego Batman is one of them.

Batman was one of the most loved characters in The Lego Movie, which may be the reason why the character got his own spinoff movie first.

This isn’t the first time that Michael Cera and Will Arnett will be working together. The two worked together on Arrested Development, where Michael Cera played George Michael, the nephew of George Oscar “GOB” Bluth, played by Will Arnett.

Nerdist reports that Michael Cera turned down a role in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, also by Warner Bros., and opted to work on Lego Batman.

It seems that Michael Cera is a busy man. Aside from his work on Lego Batman, he will also be lending his voice in an animated film entitled Sausage Party, which is slated to be released in theaters on August 16.

Arrested Development fans will also be pleased to know that Cera will be starring in and writing for the fifth season of the series, which will be available on Netflix.

If that isn’t enough, reports say that Michael Cera has recently acquired the rights to Masters of Atlantis and will be writing, directing, and starring in it. Master of Atlantis is a book by Charles Portis that was released in 1985. It focuses on a man’s journey in preserving the secrets of the lost city of Atlantis.
