Jim Parsons Heckles Audience Member During ‘An Act Of God’

If you’re planning to see Jim Parsons in his play An Act of God, you are best not to arrive late. Otherwise, you could be heckled by the man onstage. That is what happened to a tardy audience member during a matinee performance last week, according to a Page Six report.

Parsons was reportedly 15 minutes into the play when the individual was spotted making her way to an orchestra seat. The indiscretion did not go unnoticed by the man who plays God.

“A little late, aren’t you?”

But the Big Bang Theory star didn’t stop there. He made passing reference to another Broadway actor who has a reputation for calling out audience members who don’t pay attention.

“You’re lucky I’m God and not Patti LuPone.”

As Page Six recalled, LuPone stopped her show Gypsy in 2009 to yell at a photographer for taking pictures. Strangely, Parsons made reference to LuPone mere hours before she reportedly ripped a cell phone from an audience member’s hand during her show at Lincoln Center.

Page Six called it “Prescient!”

The news comes as the Emmy nominations were announced Thursday morning. Parsons was surprisingly not nominated for his role as Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory. Parsons has been nominated as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for the past six years. He has won four times.

Although Parsons was shut out of the Emmys, co-star Mayim Bialik did get a nod. It’s her fourth consecutive nomination as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Amy Farrah Fowler.

Even if there’s no Emmy coming Jim’s way this year, he can celebrate the success of An Act of God. The New York Times reported Wednesday that the show has recouped its $2.9 million capitalization. According to the article, only 25 percent of Broadway shows recoup each year.

Bialik attended one performance of the play and sent out her congratulations to her co-star over social media. The show is scheduled to continue until August 2, when Parsons goes back to The Big Bang Theory.

As fans of the comedy recall, Sheldon and Amy appeared to break up over Skype in the Season 8 finale. During a Comic-Con panel, showrunners promised their relationship would be resolved quickly in the new season.

The Big Bang Theory returns in September on CBS.
