Nikki Reed Hospitalized For Throat Problems, Exhaustion During Comic-Con

Twilight actress Nikki Reed was hospitalized last week after overdoing it at Comic-Con, the New York Daily News is reporting.

Although the 27-year-old got sick last week, the information is only now coming to light, thanks to an unnamed source close to the actress. Reed was doing her thing at San Diego’s Comic-Con when she developed severe throat problems. Doctors would later tell her that exhaustion and dehydration took their toll on her.

“Nikki said that it was probably because she’s been flying so much for work. She’s been to 20 cities in eight days for work obligations.”

Unfortunately for Nikki, however, it looks like she’s intent on keeping up her grueling schedule. After her discharge from the hospital, Nikki flew to Atlanta to spend time with her husband, Ian Somerhalder, according to Contact Music. Then, she was back to work, flying to Nashville for a launch party for Bonnie Rose White Whisky.

But Nikki seemed to have gotten her groove back, at least to an extent, by the time she got to Nashville. A source said she was slightly off her game, but only just.

“[Nikki] was a bit more soft-spoken [but] danced to country music performances and sipped on Bonnie Rose cocktails.”

Hopefully Nikki will be her regular self soon: she’s starting a new job in a few weeks, taking on the role of Betsy Ross in Fox’s Sleepy Hollow. Executive producer Len Wiseman sang the praises of the show’s new star.

“We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow. Nikki’s the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show’s twisted version of American icon Betsy Ross.”

Meanwhile, Nikki’s husband has been singing Nikki’s praises, too. The Vampire Diaries actor told E! Online earlier this week that Nikki’s bent on turning their home into an animal sanctuary.

“There’s a lot of passion in our house. Nikki’s incredible. She’s turned the house into an animal rescue… Selflessly, literally giving her resources and her home and her family’s time and her time to saving animals in need. It’s actually quite extraordinary,” he added, noting, “we actually have nine animals at home — four dogs, three cats and two horses.”

Hopefully Nikki Reed will take things a little more easily once she gets into a shooting schedule for her new show.
