WWE News: Update On Samoa Joe And Finn Balor Plans, Balor To Be Called Up Before 2016?

WWE NXT may have lost some of its top stars due to injury or call ups recently, but that does not mean the entire roster is gutted just yet. NXT still has a lot of talented workers that will do well in the coming months. Two top NXT names at the moment are Samoa Joe and NXT Champion Finn Balor. WWE has big plans for the both of them, especially Balor.

There has been a lot of talent recently regarding Kevin Owens, as many are against him appearing on the NXT Takeover show in Brooklyn, New York, to face Finn Balor in a rematch for the NXT Title. The event will take place the night before WWE SummerSlam, in the same building. While many understand the move, as Kevin Owens has a big following in New York and the rematch with the two will do well for ticket sales. The prospect of Owens working the show hurts potential storyline plans for him at WWE SummerSlam.

On top of this, if Owens does, in fact, work SummerSlam, he would have to be working two different programs leading into the event, and wrestle two nights on a row on two shows WWE will set up in a major way — one he would main event. Many feel that his last match with NXT at Beast in the East should have been his last with them.

According to Daily Wrestling News, WWE is planning to have Finn Balor retain and have a nice title run. However, it could be relatively short. Finn Balor vs Samoa Joe is expected to happen very soon. The two could very well square off for the NXT Title through the fall. Chances were low early on that Joe would ever win the title. Now that he has signed an exclusive deal with WWE, he very well could win it from Balor.

Vince McMahon is a big fan of Finn Balor, and believes his merchandise could sell well on the main roster. It is expected that Balor will only have a short run with the NXT Title.

There is a rumor going around that Hideo Itami could very well return and win the NXT Title from Balor. This would allow Balor’s run with the title to be noteworthy, but not overly long. Itami is expected back around November, which hurts that idea a bit.

This means Samoa Joe is the only choice to take the title from Finn Balor as of now, if WWE wants Balor up before the end of the year. It appears as if they do, which means Joe could win the NXT Title from Balor on the next Takeover event after the one in Brooklyn. This might allow Finn Balor to make his main roster debut by WWE Survivor Series. The current plan is to have him up before the end of 2015, so we will have to wait and see what WWE manages to do with his NXT Title run leading up to his main roster debut. He could always debut as NXT Champion — it is not unheard of.
