Shootout With Cops Involving Justin Martin: Stories Conflict

Justin Martin, a 17-year-old juvenile suspect, exchanged gunfire in a shootout with cops on Tuesday night, leading to the arrest of actor Justin Martin from High School Musical.

Justin was arrested after being shot at by police, who claim he was involved in a “flurry of gunfire” that erupted during the Tuesday night shootout. Martin, 21, had no record of violent offenses before the alleged shootout with cops in Boston. He posted a $35,000 bail on Wednesday morning after pleading not guilty before the Dorchester District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and carrying a loaded firearm, as well as two counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

Reports by Boston PD state that Martin was not alone when the shootout occurred. WCVB reveals that Justin Martin did not have a gun on his person when apprehended by police.

Cops claim they discovered Justin running with a gun in his hand while cops investigated what police officials say sounded like gun shots.

The Boston PD in Dorchester, where Justin Martin and the juvenile suspect were involved in the shootout with police, claims that Martin attempted to run from police before cops alleged Justin stopped and pointed a gun at officers.

A conflicting account of events given in an interview with WBZ-TV states police “were in the area of Washington St, Bowdin st area, when they heard, what they believed to be, was shots being fired. They turned the car onto Bowdin ave and there sure enough was a kid pointing a handgun at them.”

After being chased by police, the juvenile suspect subsequently opened fire on the cops, prompting the shootout. The officers took cover and then aimed to shoot Justin and missed.

Police reports affirm that Justin Martin did not exchange gunfire with police.

Eventually, Martin was tackled to the ground and taken into custody. According to a WCVB5 broadcast, the pistol police claim Justin Martin had in his possession was a loaded .22 caliber Smith&Wesson that was recovered from the street after the shootout occurred.

After Justin Martin had been apprehended, the Juvenile suspect approached police holding a .22 caliber firearm. The cops then arrested the juvenile suspect with no further gunfire.

Though no one was injured during the shootout, it was reported that a nearby building is now riddled with holes following the shootout with cops near Washington St.

Conflicting reports state there were a total of three suspects in the shootout with cops in Dorchester, however, only two of the suspects have been accounted for in any of the police reports and news releases. Police state that a total of two .22 firearms were recovered at the scene.

Justin Martin’s lawyer asserted during Wednesday’s arraignment that there was no evidence linking Martin to the gun police alleged he pointed at them before the shootout with Boston cops occurred.
