Bobby Brown Picks Name For New Baby Daughter That May Reflect Grief Over Bobbi Kristina Brown

Bobby Brown named his new baby daughter this week, picking a name that may reflect the grief he feels over ailing older daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown.

Brown and wife Alicia Etheredge just welcomed a new baby daughter named Bodhi Jameson Rein Brown. But while Brown and his wife are now raising a newborn, Bobby’s time is split with caring for his older daughter, who remains in hospice care months after she was found unresponsive.

As Us Weekly pointed out, the new name could reflect the trauma the Bobby and his wife feel over Bobbi’s continued poor health.

“Bodhi is a Buddhist concept of enlightenment, associated with the state of nirvana. It is translated into English as ‘enlightenment’ or ‘awakened,’ and Brown has given his newborn daughter the calm, spiritual name amidst what is a very difficult time for the Brown family.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown has been deteriorating for the last few months after being found unresponsive in a bathtub in late January. She has faced a number of setbacks and was recently moved to hospice care, where sources have said she is on her deathbed.

Bobby Brown has spent much of his time with his elder daughter, and even when he has been away from her, Bobby has appeared to be distracted. At a recent concert, he forgot the lyrics to his songs and looked lost on stage. He later apologized to the crowd, saying that his mind is elsewhere.

Brown has opened up about how badly the situation is weighing on him.

“You know, rough times are rough times,” he said at the Soul Food Festival in Los Angeles. “Hard times are hard times. I don’t know what the hell I’m going through right now, but I’m giving it to God and letting him deal with it.”

There also appears to be strife within the family. Sources have talked about squabbles between Bobby Brown and other family members, including Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon.

Some of that conflict has bubbled to the surface, including a recent Facebook post from aunt Leolah Brown in which she publicly questioned the decision to put Bobbi Kristina Brown in hospice care.

“I will not say much right now-but please be aware that I am just as shocked as you are when it comes to the status of my niece, Bobbi Kristina even being in hospice period! To the best of my knowledge, she was getting better! From what I knew and heard-hospice was not even a thought in any Brown’s head! I am angry because in my mind (and I will ALWAYS say this as long as God keeps breath in me) Bobbi Kristina WAS GETTING BETTER! Now strangely-all the sudden shes in hospice! Sneaky stuff going on all along.”

But Bobby Brown has been more selective in how he addresses the public. His baby’s name was released only when TMZ obtained the girl’s birth certificate, and his updates on Bobbi Kristina Brown have been largely calling for prayer and support.
