Australian musician Nick Cave’s 15-year-old son, Arthur, died tragically after falling off of a cliff in England, Rolling Stone is reporting.
Arthur Cave was found at the bottom of a 60-foot chalk cliff at Ovingdean Gap, in southeast England. An unidentified spokesperson for the Sussex police confirmed that a 15-year-old boy had fallen from the cliff.
“A 15-year-old boy who was found with life-threatening injuries on the underpass of Ovingdean Gap, having fallen from the cliff above, has sadly died in hospital on Tuesday. Members of the public carried out first aid on the boy before he was taken to the Royal Sussex county hospital, Brighton, just after 6 p.m. He later died there of his injuries. The death is being dealt with by the coroner’s officer.”

Police are not treating Arthur Cave’s death as suspicious. A Monday report in the Mirror noted that teenagers visiting the area where Arthur died have been spotted taking dangerous risks on the cliffs in the area — in one instance, a group of teen girls were photographed sitting with their legs over the cliff, on an unstable ledge 300 feet above the beach below. The Mirror notes that a single gust have wind could have killed all of the teens.

Nick Cave and his wife, Susie, issued a statement asking for privacy.
“Our son Arthur died on Tuesday evening. He was our beautiful, happy, loving boy. We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time.”
Nick Cave, 57, is perhaps best known as the lead vocalist for the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, according to CNN. In recent years, he’s worked as a composer, penning scores for movies such as The Road and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Though originally from Australia, Cave and his family had made their home in Brighton, England.
In 2014, Arthur Cave appeared with his twin brother, Earl Cave, in a fictionalized movie about their father, called 20,000 Days on Earth.
