Meek Mill And Taylor Swift Rule Billboard 200 Album Chart

Meek Mill is No. 1 for the second week in a row on Billboard’s latest album chart. Billboard broke the news.

“Leading the new Billboard 200 is Meek Mill’s Dreams Worth More Than Money, which racks up a second stanza at No. 1. The album moved 289,000 equivalent album units in the 11-day frame ending July 9. That sum combines the 246,000 units it earned in the week ending July 5 with the 42,000 units it collected between July 6 and July 9.”

When Billboard talks about the new chart, they are referring to the fact that albums are now charted Friday through Thursday instead of Tuesday though Monday. This is due to the fact that albums are now released on Fridays, the new global release date. In any case, it doesn’t make a difference; Meek Mill still rules the chart and has sold 577,000 album equivalents so far.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift bumps back up to No. 2 with 1989, which sold 70,000 album equivalents this week. Taylor Swift has spent most of the past nine months in the top five. The success of Swift’s album at a time where album sales barely exist is nothing short of phenomenal.

Taylor Swift has just played Washington D.C. and had a major stage malfunction, according to Us Weekly.

“Swift’s stage had a bit of a malfunction that kept Swift stalling for time while high above the arena. ‘They just told me in my ear that I might be stuck up here forever. This thing is broken,’ Swift told fans of a mechanical extendable stage that stopped working.”

Us Weekly goes on to note that Swift practically laughed off the malfunction and told the crowd that she would just have to change the whole show instead of jump off. Eventually, the stage was fixed, but Swift turned the mishap into something positive by, once again, showing her charm.

Taylor has had a lot of other stars join her on stage, including Nick Jonas and Lena Dunham. There were rumors that Madonna would be joining her in New Jersey, but that never happened. Truth be told, Taylor Swift doesn’t need any other stars to prop her up since she is the biggest star in the world right now. However, she is going to have a tough time reclaiming the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 since Meek Mill’s Dreams Worth More Than Money is one of the most critically acclaimed and streamed albums of the year.
