‘Imperial City’ DLC Coming This Fall For ‘The Elder Scrolls Online,’ Free For Active Subscribers

Although Elder Scrolls Online players have plenty of costumes, pets, and bundles to consider buying in the Crown Store, a traditional content-expanding DLC has yet to appear. Starting in August, it will change when the first official DLC pack releases on PC. The Imperial City DLC will be available on PC on August 31,with Xbox One and Playstation 4 releases to follow on September 15 and September 16, respectively.

As the name would suggest, the Imperial City DLC for The Elder Scrolls Online opens up the Imperial City for players with access to the DLC. After level 10, players will be able to access content in the DLC where they can explore “a brand new PvP/PvE space including the six Imperial City districts.” New quests, NPCs, and the Tel Var Stone system are a part of the DLC, as well as a new PvP public dungeon, two new PvE group dungeons with both Normal and Veteran difficulties. Not to mention, the DLC adds 23 new Veteran Rank 16 item sets that can only be obtained from the Imperial City.

“Located at the heart of the Cyrodiilic Empire, the Imperial City has fallen into ruin, claimed by Molag Bal’s forces. It is comprised of six Imperial Districts, the extensive Imperial Sewers network, and the White-Gold Tower at its center. The dangers of Imperial City and the Sewers below are best suited for small groups of adventurers, but highly skilled warriors have been known to strike out on their own. While exploring and fighting your way through the Imperial City, be prepared to face not only Molag Bal’s forces, but also enemy players from the opposing alliances.”

Depending on the Crown bundle purchased, the Imperial City DLC will cost between just over $18 or more than $26 at 2,500 Crowns. Elder Scrolls Online subscribers will have access to the content for free, but if their subscription lapses, they will no longer be able to benefit from the DLC. Luckily, each month a player is subscribed, they receive a 1,500 Crown stipend. That many Crowns purchased separately would cost just as much as a one-month subscription, making subscribing a viable option for purchasing Crowns as well.

When the Imperial City DLC launches, the base Elder Scrolls Online game will update with a large and important patch. Highlights include a 100 percent experience boost to public dungeons, a 15 percent decrease to how much experience is needed to gain Veteran Ranks, a new level 16 of Veteran Ranks, new crafting passives, racial passive improvements, and much more.

The Imperial City DLC for The Elder Scrolls Online is the first content-based DLC of quite a few planned for the MMO game. Six other pieces of content are known with four of them revealed to officially be upcoming DLC. Players can expect a Dark Brotherhood quest series, a DLC centered on the Thieves Guild, and other pieces of content to further expand Tamriel in The Elder Scrolls Online.
