Stacy Keibler ‘A Warrior’ After Undergoing Natural Birth

Stacy Keibler is “a warrior,” she claims after having given her new baby a natural birth at home. The actress and model had given birth to Ava Grace without drugs last August, and she says feels a stronger bond with her newborn daughter as a result of it.

Keibler isn’t the only one celebrating a new member of the family. NBA star Stephen Curry recently revealed a photo of his newborn son alongside his wife, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. A photo will keep the memories for years to come, though what Keibler went through with young Ava is part of a trend about as new as Instagram itself.

Many new parents are opting for the natural birth, eliminating the hospital bill in favor of greeting the new member of the family the way it was done before hospitals. The pain alone might be enough to dissuade some, but not Stacy Keibler. She feels like a “warrior” for having done it without drugs.

Keibler’s baby had been overdue, and her obstetrician had suggested an induction. Instead, she and her husband had chosen a midwife and doula with the “right energy” and went the natural way, says People. She had also decided to stay extra healthy in order to have the stamina to handle the type of childbirth she’d chosen. It seemed to have paid off, as she’d gone into labor for 19 hours, “and for 12 of those hours my water hadn’t even broken yet.”

Keibler explained the process to Ricki Lake.

“I felt like we went to war together. I kept saying, ‘Ava’s a warrior. I’m a warrior.’ It was one of my mantras that I would say. Then when she came out, I feel like we had this bond that we had just fought together.

Watching The Business of Being Born changed everything for my husband and I. We really wanted to research midwives and wanted to learn as much as we could about doing things more naturally.

If I had to go to the hospital, they pretty much couldn’t do anything unless it was an emergency situation. I just want to help educate other women out there because there’s so many choices I didn’t realize I could make.”

Stacy Keibler’s “warrior” mantra was part of what got her through the process, alongside visualizing young Ada in her arms. Not everything went as planned, but it was part of what left Keibler with a sense of pride and a powerful bond with Ava.

The sense of going through something so unpredictable certainly helped Stacy Keibler become the “warrior” she feels like. It even bonded her with Ava beyond anything the hospital could have provided. She added that each birth should be an individual choice.

“Educating yourself will help guide you in the direction that feels right. If you are pregnant for the first or the fifth time, it is never too late to change your mind on how you would like to experience your little miracle coming into this world.”
