George And Amal Clooney Plan Parenthood [Report]

After George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin last September, the baby rumors started. George, the long-confirmed bachelor, married Amal after a relatively short engagement. The lavish nuptials were stalked by countless paparazzi, and Amal’s outfits were scanned for any evidence of an emerging baby bump.

In December, the pregnancy rumors got so far that the couple flatly denied to Us Weekly that the world would see a new Alamuddin-Clooney. A rep said, “Amal Clooney is not pregnant.”

Now, several unnamed sources have told Us Weekly that the Clooneys are, indeed, planning to expand their family. The sources claim renovation plans for the couple’s country home in England include a nursery. They have also, reportedly, seen a fertility specialist.

The news comes a few short months after Clooney told CBS This Morning that, although he’d thought about having kids, it “hasn’t been high on my list.”

Neither George, 54, or Amal, 37, have children. It is Amal’s first marriage, and George’s second. Although divorce rumors have also plagued the couple, a Time article back in January asserted that their relative backgrounds, education, age, and wealth mean they fit the demographic for a long-lasting marriage.

The Us Weekly report from Wednesday quoted a source, who said Amal has been pulling back from her work in order to prep for a baby, which she hopes to have next year, as their home renovations are completed.

“They decided that it would be the right time. Amal isn’t taking on extra work at the moment and just continuing with the cases she has.”

A source also said George’s experience with his friends who have children has made him more inclined to become a father.

“[George] loves the relationships his friends have with their kids. George is ready for this step and he thinks that Amal will be a great mother.”

Tuesday night, the Clooneys were spotted by the Daily Mail having dinner in Lake Como, Italy, where George has long had a home. They were joined by Amal’s sister, Tala, and their parents, as well as actor Ellen Barkin. George’s parents and older sister, Adelia, were also in attendance. Amal wore a stylish sleeveless dress and George sported a grey goatee.

A Page Six report from earlier this month claimed the Clooneys planned to sell the Lake Como villa because of paparazzi attention. If true, the asking price could be as high as $100 million, according to the report. Clooney bought the villa in 2002 for a reported $10 million.
