‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 3 Casts Nikki Reed As Betsy Ross

It’s the week after Comic-Con, and while Sleepy Hollow may not have been in attendance, that doesn’t mean the show isn’t gearing up for the new season. In fact, there’s some new casting news out that should have fans excited.

It’s because of production on Sleepy Hollow Season 3 that the Fox series had to miss out on San Diego Comic-Con, despite a previous announcement that it would have a panel there, so while fans did not get to find out what to expect in the new season like they may have hoped to this month from there, that doesn’t mean that they’ll have to wait for news. The Inquisitr previously reported that there will be some changes for Season 3, as there is a change in showrunner, and Orlando Jones will not be returning.

TVLine reported that the show was casting Betsy Ross, and this Betsy Ross “is a sexy, surprisingly strong spy who works within George Washington’s Culper Ring,” as well as “a kickass Mrs. Smith to Ichabod Crane’s Mr. Smith.”

Further details in the description of this new Sleepy Hollow character call her “ruthless, smart, and fearless, adjusting to blend into whatever the situation demands, from demure handmaiden to honeypot to cutthroat spy.”

Now, the Hollywood Reporter has announced that Nikki Reed (Twilight, Thirteen) is going to be playing the seamstress with a history with Ichabod – and she’s a series regular – and based on what co-creator and executive producer Len Wiseman had to say, the details previously revealed about this Betsy make sense.

“We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow. Nikki’s the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show’s twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross.”

As for what else is coming up in the third season, which premieres on Thursday, October 1, after the Bones Season 11 premiere, it begins with Ichabod and Abbie adjusting to what life is like following the events of the second season.

While there may be a break, it will seemingly be the calm before the storm, as the two will be challenged once again, this time by “a surprising supernatural presence.”

In other news, Sleepy Hollow has been nominated for a Teen Choice Award, for Choice TV Show: Sci-Fi/Fantasy. The other shows nominated in the category are Arrow, Once Upon a Time, The Vampire Diaries, The 100, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The award show will air on Sunday, August 16, at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Sleepy Hollow Season 3 premieres Thursday, October 1, at 9 p.m. on Fox.
