Musician Nick Cave’s Son Dies After Falling From Cliff — Death Is Not Being Treated As ‘Suspicious’

Musician Nick Cave’s son tragically died after falling 60 feet off a cliff in Brighton, South East England. Nick and his wife, Susie, visited the site where they lost their 15-year-old son and left flowers. The couple has requested their privacy to be respected in such difficult times.

Nick Cave and his wife, Susie, have been mourning the loss of their teenage son, Arthur, who passed away on Tuesday morning after plummeting from a cliff. He was found with grievous injuries at the foot of Ovingdean Gap in Brighton, East Sussex. Some walkers who chanced upon the gravely injured Arthur, attempted to administer first-aid, reported the Guardian. Thereafter, the child was airlifted and transported to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Though doctors tried to save the child’s life, they couldn’t, and Arthur succumbed to his injuries early in the morning.

Nick, 57, and his wife shared the news of their son’s death with a short statement that specifically requested for others to respect their privacy.

“Our son Arthur died on Tuesday evening. He was our beautiful, happy loving boy. We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time.”

Incidentally, the death isn’t being treated as “suspicious.” However, Arthur, who is said was a good drummer, was not the one to take his own life, shared his father. Hence, the case may not be considered as a suicide. The police may investigate other angles and moreover, are likely not to consider any foul play. While the spokesperson for Sussex police merely confirmed the incident, a spokesperson for HM Coastguard noted as follows.

“Newhaven coastguard were called by Sussex police to attend a report of a child who had fallen from the top of the cliff.”

Though the cliff is precipitous and has a straight fall of about 60 feet, there are guardrails that run along the edge to prevent such mishaps. The coroner is investigating what is likely to be chalked up as “accidental death.” Though the investigation is still pending, it is being said that the child was engrossed in taking selfies just yards away from the cliff where he fell to his death, reported the Daily Mail. Most likely, Arthur may have slipped and fallen after numerous attempts at taking a selfie as close to the edge as possible. Such practices have been proven to be fatal in the past.

Arthur was born to Nick Cave’s second wife. He has a twin brother, Earl. Nick has two more sons, Luke and Jethro, from his previous relationships, reported Hello.
