John Cusack Receives Hollywood Star


The Raven actor John Cusack has a lot to be grateful for these days. He’s had a career that spans well into the 80s, there’s good buzz surrounding his latest film The Raven, that sees him portraying Edger Allen Poe, and as of Tuesday Cusack received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ceremony that was held on Tuesday for John Cusack to unveil his star cost an upwards of $30,000, and reunited him with old co-stars like Dan Aykroyd, Jack Black, Billy Bob Thorton, and of course his thespian sister Joan Cusack. All of the people gathered to pay tribute to the Better Off Dead star as he received his Hollywood star.

Cusack proved that he could take a few pot shots at himself and enjoy in a nice laugh as he watched others tell stories, and during his own reflections said, “To the best of my knowledge, I’ve tried to screw my career up as much as I possibly could, but even with all my best efforts to screw it up, I managed to have lasting friendships, and some of the best friends I’ve ever met in the business.”

His sister Joan, who arguable knows him best reflected on his best attributes as a person, “I think he himself is part ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ part ‘Dr. Strangelove’ and part ‘Charlie Brown’s Christmas.’”

Later on in the evening John Cusack went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his new film The Raven, which comes out this Friday in theaters. He quipped to the host that he took a shot of Purell hand sanitizer in celebration of getting the star.
