Young Thug Finally Impresses Lil Wayne

Young Thug has always had an uncomfortable appreciation for Lil Wayne. Besides imitating album titles and performance style, Young Thug has named Lil Wayne as the sole inspiration for what he does. Young Thug always seems overly obsessive about the matter, but it could just be the way he chooses to express himself.

But is it a genuine sentiment, or is he just trying to get under Lil Wayne’s skin? Someone believed to be connected with Young Thug fired shots into Lil Wayne’s tour bus. Lil Wayne also has Cash Money Records locked in a lawsuit. But besides the legal and real life drama, beneath that, does Young Thug have genuine admiration?

Recent statements about Young Thug’s Barter 6 album have shed light on why Weezy can’t look at things the same way. The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, has compared the Young Thug admiration to his own admiration for Jay Z.

As reported by BET, Carter expressed his appreciation for Young Thug and does not see a comparison to the time he took a shot at the album title of former group member Juvenile.

“On Thugger’s Barter 6 album, the 32-year-old rapper said that he doesn’t necessarily hate the idea of him copying his title — so long as his intentions are pure. Being that Wayne dropped a 500 Degreez album back in the day to spite Juvenile, he understands how the Barter 6 could be misinterpreted.”

So does this mean that the Young Thug feud is over? That’s doubtful. Young Thug is still signed to Cash Money Records. It’s reasonable that Birdman is using Young Thug to get at Lil Wayne. If he can no longer do it this way, then perhaps he’ll find another way.

This past July 4, Weezy put out his new free mixtape. Young Thug had planned to drop his Slime Season mixtape the same day, but ended up delaying it. Was this also a sign of the ice melting between the two rappers?

The only way it’s believable that they have reconciled their differences is if they truly come together in the rap community. That would best be expressed with a mixtape or album, at least a song, featuring both of them. Of course, with all the legal battles brewing between Wayne and Cash Money Records, that may not be legally possible at this point. But it would prove to some that this whole scenario is more than just a scheme to trick the public and keep Young Thug’s name in the news.
