Brandy’s Subway Performance Goes Unnoticed, ‘Nobody Heard Me Singing? Nobody Cares?’

Brandy’s subway performance apparently didn’t impress the people of New York City.

Brandy, whose full name is Brandy Rayana Norwood, recently took a ride on one of the subways in NYC. Dressed in a disguise, complete with a hoodie and sunglasses, she started singing her heart out. Surprisingly, no one acknowledged the superstar and continued on their ride as if nothing had happened.

The 36-year-old actress and singer had her friend Frank Silent capture the whole scene on video, which she later shared on her personal blog.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay in New York. Ever since moving here in April I’ve made sure to REALLY experience the city.

“I’ve hung out in Central Park, Times Square, ridden the bus, and I’ve gotten accustomed to taking the subway too. I feel like a real New Yorker. I’m learning the streets and everything, y’all!

“There’s something different about NY. The energy and the drive of the people is just DIFFERENT. I like it!

“Recently, Frank Silent and I took a little subway ride after I’d left the gym. Frank, his camera, and I always equal a good time.

“I decided to hit the subway and sing my little heart out. You’ve GOTTA check out this video and see why this fun-filled morning left me asking: Can a Sistah get ONE fan?!”

Brandy quickly learned that the people of NYC are hard to impress, as they sat their blankly staring into space or into their smartphones. However, there was one man who encouraged Brandy to “do something different.”

“Don’t be scared. You got talent man, go for it,” he told the Moesha alum. “We’ve seen this a million times. You’ve gotta do something different.”

According to Us Weekly, this isn’t the first time that Brandy’s performance has been a flop. In 2013, she made a surprise appearance at the Mandela Sports and Culture Day in Soweto, South Africa. The stadium held 90,000 people, unfortunately only 40 of those seats were taken. South African musician Kabamo said he believes the turnout was so low because no one knew there would be a concert after the games ended.

“No one knew Brandy was around. Maybe a 40 person audience,” he tweeted at the time. “She sulked after two songs and walked off.”

Brandy was originally supposed to join South African musicians David Jenkins, Elvis, Blue, Salif Keita and D’Banj in a concert after the football and rugby matches had completed. However, by the time she took the stage, almost the entire crowd had left.
