Miami Heat Rumors: Amar’e Stoudemire Sacrificing For Title Shot In Miami

Miami Heat rumors have Amar’e Stoudemire ready to put the team first. Stoudemire signed with the Heat on a low-cost deal to the team, presumably to chase an elusive NBA title. A report from ESPN late Tuesday (July 14) has him saying all the right things as well. The veteran power forward and former NBA All-Star might bring a lot to the team off the bench, especially if he can stay healthy. That’s the big question, as he hasn’t been able to do that since leaving the Phoenix Suns.

“It’s whatever the coaching staff asks. I can play however much or however long he needs me to. You know, it’s whatever it takes to win.”

“I’m sure coach [Erik] Spoelstra has to figure out how to orchestrate this entire thing. I bring instant scoring, something I’ve been doing my entire career without a problem. But I feel that knowing I’m a [power forward] and a [center], to utilize that advantage is great for us. We just have to make sure we are able to utilize whatever we have on this team to reach our full potential.”

As previously reported by the Inqusitr, Miami Heat rumors from earlier in the NBA offseason revealed Amar’e Stoudemire had signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the team. Stoudemire could have made more money in another city, but he was living up to his claim that he is in this for a shot at an NBA title. Playing for the Heat should certainly give him a better chance than when he was with the New York Knicks last year.

Stoudemire may not get a lot of minutes until he can prove he still has something left to offer. Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside will be the starters at power forward and center, with Chris Anderson, Udonis Haslem, and Josh McRoberts battling with Stoudemire for time off the bench. The team certainly has a lot of depth now, giving Heat coach Erik Spoelstra a lot of potential weapons during the 2015-16 NBA season. If all these players can stay healthy, the team just might have the most depth in the conference.

Last season, Miami fell short in the second half of the regular season, losing enough games to fall out of the last playoff spot. With several good additions from the 2015 NBA Draft, the team is back with some new weapons to prove it doesn’t need LeBron James to find postseason success again. While there have been quite a few Miami Heat rumors this offseason, the team has emerged much better and now with the addition of Stoudemire may just be a true contender.
