The Suicide Squad trailer was finally released to the internet on Monday, July 13, and the world has been abuzz about it. The trailer not only showed a whole lot of the Joker and Harley Quinn, but also Cara Delevingne’s big acting debut in the highly-anticipated film.
The British supermodel plays the lonely June Moone, who turns her alter-ego Enchantress, a witch who uses her powers for evil. Delevingne’s character later joins the Suicide Squad. In the trailer, fans see Delevingne submerging herself in black water, kissing a mysterious man, exploring a cave, and crying in the rain. Some fans think that it’s Enchantress that’s being tied up and tortured by the Joker. Meanwhile, other fans think it’s Harley Quinn who’s actually being tortured by the super villain.
Suicide Squad isn’t the first film for Cara. She already made the leap into acting with her movies The Face of Angel and Paper Towns. Suicide Squad’s official trailer is the biggest acting debut for the 22-year-old model. In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Cara explained that she wanted to pursue acting because modeling made her feel “empty” inside.
“I ended up feeling a bit empty. Fashion is about what’s on the outside, and that’s it.”
In another interview with Empire magazine, Delevingne questioned the outfits that female superheroes wear.
“There are only three girls in [Suicide Squad] but in my opinion they have the best roles. Generally though, superhero movies are totally sexist. Female superheroes are normally naked or in bikinis. No-one would be able to fight like that. Wonder Woman, how the hell does she fight? She would be dead in a minute.”
Everyone’s talking about Cara’s debut in the Suicide Squad trailer, but that’s not the only blockbuster movie she’s been seen in. Fans are wondering if Cara is also in the new Star Wars footage. After Star Wars: The Force Awakens behind-the-scenes feature was released at Comic-Con, some fans noted that one of the characters looks like Cara. The character is resting against a Jabba The Hutt-esque monster.
Delevingne is a huge Star Wars fan, so it wouldn’t be a stretch. The Chanel model posed next to the original Jabba The Hutt at a Star Wars exhibit earlier this year. However, it looks like Delevingne’s rumored debut in Star Wars is just a rumor at the moment.
The movie follows the story of the Task Force X, also known as the Suicide Squad, a group of imprisoned villains who are hired by a top secret government agency in order to take on dangerous missions and fight the evil Joker. The Suicide Squad is set for release on Aug. 5, 2016.
