Rapper Future Dishes On Breakup From Ex Ciara: ‘I Felt Embarrassed For Her’

Rapper Future is talking a lot about his ex, Ciara, these days. Perhaps it’s because she’s been in the headlines a lot, thanks to her relationship with NFL player Russell Wilson.

Future sat down with HuffPost Live for a chat, and eventually that turned into a continuation of the he said-she said about his breakup from Ciara. Although it’s been a year since the couple called it quits, Future is still talking about the topic.

According to the rapper, it wasn’t cheating allegations that caused the pair to split. Instead, he said that they just simply “grew apart.”

He continued to explain his situation with Ciara, “Everybody already had their speculation on what happened. A lot of people said, ‘Man, he cheated.’ But our relationship had nothing to do with cheating. We grew apart. As a man, you want to make decisions for your family, and sometimes the lady doesn’t see what you see. I called [the engagement] off long before any cheating rumors came out. I was like, ‘This isn’t going to work out.’ ”

This is, of course, a very different story from what his former fiancée, Ciara, is putting out there. The singer reportedly broke up with Future, three months after giving birth to their son, because of these cheating rumors. A source said that she found out he was cheating on her with his wardrobe consultant, Tyrina Lee.

“She found out about the affair through multiple sources in recent weeks. There was clear evidence when she approached Future about the cheating. This was clearly not just a one-night thing.”

To add insult to injury, Future said he was embarrassed for her once he learned that she has already picked out her wedding gown and took bridal photos with their newborn son. “I was like, I don’t want a headline story as ‘Ciara’s husband.’ We were still living together when [we split] because we were best friends. I felt embarrassed for her.”

The last time Future spoke about Ciara was back in April, when he visited The Breakfast Club. At the time he said, “It clearly didn’t work out. But I have the greatest gift, the greatest joy of my life is my son [Future Jr.]. Honestly, I feel like everything in life happens for a reason and my son has been the greatest gift that God has given me in my life and been the most game-changing thing that’s happened to my life, in a necessary way.”
