George Michael Crack Addict Allegations Not True, Says Singer, Rep

George Michael is becoming famous for more than his songs now. According to allegations from a relative speaking to the press, the “Faith” singer had been furiously addicted to cocaine until last Summer.

Jackie Georgiou, wife of the singer’s cousin, Andros, had told the British tabloids, “Before he went away he got to the point where he would be shaking, saying ‘I need it.’ “

Georgiou had told them that until this past year, the singer had been secretly in rehab at Kusnacht Practice in Switzerland, battling with the addiction. According to Entertainment Tonight, she had said that the family was petrified he was going to die.

“There were parties where he was taking drugs and collapsing and being picked up off the floor. Waking up in vomit, horrible things. He was so thin, so ill … And I know he was still drinking after a year in rehab, which is bad.”

George Michael’s crack addiction is a thing of the past, says the singer and his reps, though reports claim he may still be drinking. Despite arrests in previous years for drug possession, the rumors of his addiction were allegedly overblown.

George Michael’s reps have mirrored the singers recent tweets, breaking their usual silence in stating how grossly inaccurate the allegations are.

“Whilst it is our general policy not to comment on private matters, we would in this instance note that these highly inaccurate stories have been apparently provided to the press by the wife of a very distant family member, neither of whom has had any dealings with him for seventeen years. It is therefore unsurprising that they are so incorrect. Beyond this we have no further comment to make as the matter is now in the hands of Mr. Michael’s lawyers.”

The singer added that life has been as normal as it could be, tweeting the following about the recent tennis tournament.

“I am perfectly fine and enjoyed Wimbledon like the rest of you. Wish it went to 5 sets though!”

According to George Michael and his reps, crack addiction is something he kicked a long time ago, and recent arrests are likely isolated events. The official word out of the singer’s camp is that the crack addict rumors are false.
