Andrew Luck Will Play For Indianapolis Colts

It’s official. Andrew Luck will be chosen number one by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2012 NFL drat.

Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson confirmed today that the Colts would pick up Luck during the draft. Grigson said that he wanted to end the speculation and confirmed “what the world already knew.”

Grigson said:

“In fairness to Andrew Luck and in fairness to the whole process… the media gantlet he’s going to be enduring the next couple days… I thought it was the right thing to do to announce that we’re going to take him… I didn’t see the point in prolonging what the world already knows.”

The Stanford Quarterback will officially step into Peyton Manning’s old shoes on Thursday when the Colts call his name during the NFL draft.

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said that Luck will be a big help from the moment he gets drafted and he expects the rookie QB to have a long and successful history in Indianapolis.

Pagano said:

“We’ve got a great one for years to come. It’s another piece of the puzzle that we feel really good about, obviously.”

With Luck going number one in the draft, Robert Griffin III will likely be the number 2 pick. League sources say that the decision has already been made and RG3 will be playing for the Washington Redskins this year. The number 3 pick has reportedly been narrowed down to three players. According to ESPN, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to take USC left tackle Matt Kalil, LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne and Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon.
