Can Bangladesh shock the cricket world one more time? Watch live online to find if out the Tigers can beat the powerful South Africa side for a second straight game in the Third One day International Match, to take their ODI series 2-1. After losing both T20 matches and the First ODI, all in decisive fashion, Bangladesh rallied behind an unbeaten 88 by Soumya Sarkar in Sunday’s 2nd ODI, to post a stunning seven-wicket win.
The victory was the first win in an ODI for Bangladesh over South Africa since 2007, and only the second ever, in 16 tries with a 17th match abandoned.
To find out how to watch the Bangladesh vs. South Africa 3rd ODI live online, see the information at the bottom of this article. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, at 3 p.m. local time at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, in the coastal Bangladesh city of Chittagong. That’s 9 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time, 5 a.m. United States Eastern Time, 2 a.m. Pacific.
The victory also snapped an overall four-match losing streak for Bangladesh, after dropping the 3rd ODI against India and the two T20s against South Africa — a dry spell that threatened to sour the good feelings generated by the Tigers’ first-ever World Cup knockout stage appearance and 10-match home ODI winning streak, which included a three-game whitewash of Pakistan and 2-1 series win over India.
The Second ODI saw South Africa bat first, but run into a twin-blade bowling buzz saw, in the form of 19-year-old seamer Mustafizur Rahman and spinner Nasir Hossain, who each claimed three wickets as the Tigers bowled out the Proteas for an attainable score of 162.
Thanks to Soumya and comebacking batsman Mahmuldullah, who partnered for 135, Bangladesh reached their target in just 28 of the available 50 overs, dealing South Africa a serious wake-up call.
South Africa traveled to Bangladesh without three of their top fast bowlers in Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, and Vernon Philander. They also released superstar batsman A.B. de Villiers after the pair of T20 matches, sending their usual one-day captain home for the birth of his first child.
But South Africa may regret their decision to field a “B” team in Bangladesh as they now teeter on the verge of what would be a historic and demoralizing series defeat.
