Reverse Driver In Viral Video Sought By Los Angeles Police Over Dangerous Stunt [Video]

The reverse driver featured in a Los Angeles viral video could be headed to jail. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a video of a man driving backward down a busy LA street went viral. The Los Angeles Police Department was less than amused when shown the footage and soon after launched a criminal investigation.

LAPD officials consider this “some of the most reckless driving” ever viewed by investigators.

“Reckless driving, unsafe speed, crossing double-yellow lines, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. Given the numerous close calls, [it’s] incredible no one was hurt.”

The bizarre incident was captured Thursday by Kevin Zanazanian, who filmed the reverse driver on his cell phone. The realtor told KCAL/KCBS that his experience was a “shocker”.

In the video, you can see a man in an Audi driving backward through traffic for more than two miles. Indeed, the reverse driving may look good as a Fast and Furious sequel, but such behavior can cause multiple casualties in the real world. Police want to catch up to the thoughtless driver before internet notoriety brings about a repeat performance on Los Angeles’ streets.

As of now, all that’s known is that the driver is an adult male, and there was a female passenger in the car. Zanazanian thought that the reverse driver could have wanted to impress the woman he was with and show what a “cool guy” he was. However, the realtor also thinks there’s a possibility he might have filmed a domestic dispute. It would explain why the male driver acted out and veered into oncoming traffic multiple times, Was it an attempt to terrify his unknown woman companion?

Whatever the case, the public probably will probably the story behind this impromptu stunt sooner rather than later. In the video, the Audi’s plates are visible, which will make it possible for the LAPD to get the owner’s identity. Authorities will likely trace the plates to a dealership and from there learn the information needed to arrest the man in the cell phone footage.

Even though no one was harmed, the fact that the incident has been brought to the attention of Los Angles officials made a criminal investigation both inevitable and not too surprising. The stunt may look impressive, but it’s important to remember that many innocent people were put at risk by one man’s behavior.

“Imagine if it was you or your family member driving and being struck by someone doing something irresponsible.”

Now that you’ve seen the video, what do you think of the reverse driver? Do you think an arrest will act as a deterrent to other Los Angeles residents? Share your thoughts below!
