Pic Of ‘Minions’ Dad Will Make Your Heart Smile

Minions dad has gone viral!

A photograph of what appears to be an extremely loving dad and his excited son — together about to go see the new animated hit — has taken reddit by storm.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many details to go on as far as the “story behind the story” is concerned, only that the picture was posted to reddit and it quickly hit the top of the social news site Sunday evening.

On the other hand, a picture truly is worth a thousand words, and Minions dad is proof of that.

If you’ve seen the film or the previews, then you know the dad and his son are dressed up complete with overalls, yellow shirts, and silly goggles.

There is no mistaking where these two are going, in other words.

That prompted the accompanying reddit text, “Father of the year award goes to this gentleman who was taking a very excited boy to the movies.”

Comments were largely smile-inducing as well. Here are some of the standouts.

“This is absolutely beautiful!!!”

“Son of the year award goes to this kid who was dragged to the movies by a very excited dad.”

“People can hate on minions all they want but this guys a good dad. Looking like a fool on the subway and in public to make your son happy is awesome.”

And this blue, but incredibly poignant comment about sums it all up.

“When I was born, my mother contacted my father who had left her upon the news of the pregnancy, and told her that his son had come into the world. He told her that I should have been born months earlier into a bucket. … This man is dressed like a [expletive] Minion on public transport just to give his son a couple of hours of fun. I’m not even jealous/bitter about seeing stuff like this, I’m glad some kids get fathers who are this interested in their upbringing. If you ever have a kid, don’t be a [expletive] parent. Actually put the [expletive] effort in. Your kid didn’t ask to be born so at least make it worth his/her while.”

As for the actual film, it opened to an incredible worldwide take of $395.7 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

A little free marketing like this can only help.
