Hugh Jackman: actor, producer, heartthrob… with a controlling wife?
The Wolverine actor, who has been married to fellow actress Deborra-Lee Furness for almost 20 years, is one of the most successful names in Hollywood. Born in Australia, Hugh Jackman achieved widespread success in several movies, most famously in the X-Men series for portraying the character of Wolverine/Logan.
One would then assume that a man as successful as he would be allowed to pick what movies he wanted to star in. Not according to his wife.
People reported that, while stopping by the Today show in Australia, Furness confessed that she has certain rules when deciding what roles her husband can partake in, with one main rule in particular.
“I’ve told his agent he’s not allowed to work with Angelina.”
As Hollywood Life reported, in the alleged affair that rocked the world, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Pitt ended up leaving now-ex-wife Jennifer Anniston for current wife Angelina Jolie. One could only assume that Hugh Jackman’s wife does not want the same fate to happen with her marriage.
Even though Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have been married forever in the land of celebrities, Furness still has to work hard to make sure that, at the end of the day, Jackman comes home to her. In Hollywood, marriages are as fickle as they can be, with the high-profile marriage between reality star Kim Kardashian and basketball player Kris Humphries lasting for only 72 days.
On Entertainment Tonight’s YouTube Channel, Jackman’s wife said it all came down to choosing the right person.
Despite their 13-year age difference, Furness and Jackman have discovered the secret to making it work: time with each other. The actress revealed that the couple never spend more than two weeks apart. It’s what makes their marriage thrive.
Shortly after her statement, however, Furness went on to say that she was only kidding and that she respects Angelina Jolie. Jolie and her husband Brad Pitt have famously adopted many children and Furness is a firm supporter of what they do. Hugh Jackman and his wife have two adopted children of their own: Ava, 9, and Oscar, 14.

Hugh Jackman and his wife have made it work in a world that many others can’t, so we have to admire their commitment and dedication to the marriage. And whether their marriage success comes down to a relationship built in a solid foundation of trust and respect — or whether it’s based on a strict list of rules — we can only guess.
Yes, Furness has since said that she was only joking, but what else could she say after so much attention has been placed on one off-the-cuff comment?
