Taylor Swift Rocks Out With U.S. Women’s Soccer Team

Taylor Swift’s tour had a stop at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Friday, and she was joined onstage by several new friends. The championship United States women’s soccer team came up on stage and Swift performed her recent single “Style”. ABC News is reporting that Taylor got to hold the team’s trophy, and the audience responded with chants of “U.S.A.”

A couple of the players took to Twitter after the concert and had nothing but love for Swift.

Earlier in the day the USWNT was honored with a ticker-tape parade down the streets of New York City. The team won the World Cup on Sunday with a dominating 5-2 performance against Japan. CNN reported that it was the first time that such a parade was held for a female sports team. Team veteran Abby Wambach had a message for all the fans who supported the team.

“I can’t discount how important you guys were — the fans — in bringing home this World Cup for us. We’ve had a lot of amazing experiences… but this actually will go down as the best thing I have ever been a part of in my life.”

As for Swift, this is the third month of her tour, which is scheduled to continue through to December. The New York Post reported that Friday night’s show was another successful performance as Swift continues her transition from country artist to pop star. Taylor also continues to connect with her fans.

“There was a time when I felt like I didn’t have any real friends, but now I feel like I’m surrounded by 60,000 friends.”

Taylor will be back at MetLife Stadium on Saturday night.

It has been just another big week for the 25-year-old singer/songwriter. Taylor spent the Fourth of July at her Rhode Island home celebrating America’s birthday with pals Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, model Martha Hunt, Ed Sheeran, and new boyfriend Calvin Harris. Then, as reported earlier at the Inquisitr, Swift made a very generous donation, $50,000, earlier in the week to a little girl fighting cancer. The website GoFundMe changed its policy after Swift had to break down her donation into three $15,000 donations and one for $5,000.

Taylor Swift will likely continue to have a very busy summer while the whirlwind tour for the USWNT will start to settle down as the group breaks up and the players return to their regular teams. Either way, both have had a summer to remember.
