Hoping to become the lottery’s next multi-millionaire? If you match all six winning numbers in the July 10 Mega Millions drawing, you will be $106 million richer — before taxes, of course.
Before tonight’s drawing, make sure you sign your ticket and put it in a safe place. According to Forbes, it’s one of the most important things you can do when you purchase a lottery ticket — whether it’s the Mega Millions, Powerball, or even an instant “scratch-off” lottery ticket. Anyone who signs the ticket and presents identification at lottery headquarters can cash the winning ticket in, so go sign your potential jackpot winner now.
The winning Mega Millions numbers for July 10 are: 24-27-45-51-54, MB 8.
Wondering how much you will get if you are lucky enough to win Friday night’s Mega Millions jackpot? If you beat the 1 in 259 million odds, you will have to choose between a one-time lump sump payment, or a 30-year annuity.
According to USA Mega’s handy lottery analysis chart, tonight’s $106 million jackpot has a cash value of $64.5 million. After federal taxes are deducted, the winner will get a check for $48,375,000 if they live in a state where lottery winnings are not taxed. Otherwise, expect to have even more money deducted, depending on your state’s tax rate.
For example, if you live in South Carolina, you will get a one-time payment of approximately $43,860,000 after federal taxes ($16,125,000) and state taxes ($4,515,000) are taken out.
Jackpot winners who choose a 30-year annuity will get their first payment shortly after the ticket is validated by lottery officials. After that, a check will be mailed — or direct deposited — once per year. The yearly payment for the July 10 Mega Millions jackpot would be approximately $3.5 million before federal and state taxes are deducted.
There hasn’t been a jackpot winner since June 2 when one lucky ticket holder won $260 million. According to the Chicago Tribune, the winning Mega Millions ticket was purchased at a supermarket in the Blue Island area of Chicago.
The jackpot winner still hasn’t come forward to claim the prize, but the store that sold the winning ticket received a $500,000 bonus from the state lottery. Delores Diaz, the manager of Super Mercado Imelda market, tells CBS that she will use the money to pay off some bills.
