East Coast About To Get Blanketed With Snow And Rain

Mother nature apparently forgot to tell the East coast that heat records are being destroyed all over the country this April, that after meteorologists started calling for a rare late-April snowstorm that is headed straight for parts of western Pennsylvania and New York. In preparation for up to one feet of snow some schools in Pennsylvania’s Allegheny Mountains have already closed.

The snow fall is part of nor’easter which dumped a ton of rainfall from Virginia to New England over the weekend and six inches of snow on eastern New York’s Lake Ontario area alongside the Buffalo area and the higher elevated geographical regions of Pennsylvania.

Residents in affected areas are being told they could now receive up to nine more inches of snow.

Also in the possibly affect area is Ohio which meteorologists are predicting could witness up to seven inches of snow.

Areas along the East Coast in the meantime are being warned of high winds and heavy rainfall which has led to concerns over power outages and possible flooding to the area. While heavy rains may increase the potential for flooding they are also being seen as a positive trend that should help alleviate some of the areas drought conditions.

The storm is expected to pull out of the area by tomorrow night.

In the meantime various events have been postponed because of the surprisingly bad weather including three MLB games and the space shuttle Enterprise’s scheduled arrival in New York.

Are you surprised by this latest weather pattern given all the record highs and 100+ degree temperatures in parts of the south?
