Jon Huntsman Compares GOP To Communist China

Jon Huntsman likely isn’t the most popular politician in the Republican party at the moment, that is because the former US Presidential hopeful recently compared his own party to Communist China.

According to Politico the former GOP primary contender and China ambassador was speaking about his parties decision to disinvite him from a fundraiser last month when he said a third-party candidate should enter the race for the presidency. After being uninvited from the GOP fundraiser because of that comment Huntsman proclaimed:

“This is what they do in China on party matters if you talk off script.”

After making that comment Huntsman said he would not be the vice presidential running mate for presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

On a more personal note Jon Huntsman joked that it was his wife’s fault that he didn’t receive the GOP nod. According to Huntsman his wife was very specific about following his principles.

“She said if you pandered, if you sign any of those damn pledges, I’ll leave you,” he recalled. “So I had to say I believe in science—and people on stage look at you quizzically as though you’re an oddball.”

In the meantime Huntsman has back peddled slightly since making his comments, speaking on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning he said his comments were just a bit of “waxing philosophical” and that the media simply took his words out of context as left wing bloggers attempted to “create a headline.” In the meantime Huntsman didn’t take back the words he uttered regarding the GOP and communist China.
