WWE News: Jim Ross Had To Convince Vince McMahon To Sign Gail Kim By Talking About Asian Porn

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has been known for being high on gorgeous women. Years ago, he was known for having TV affairs with the likes of Candice Michelle and Sable. WWE used this character as a way to have Vince stay as a heel that could be a big problem for talent. This tyrant would use women and his power to exploit his strength as an all-powerful business man. It was a great character, but one that sort of drifted over into real life.

Vince still loves beautiful women, which is a good reason all of the women employed by WWE on TV are beautiful. At one point, however, looks might have been the only thing the Chairman and Talent Relations even considered. It was tough to get in great wrestlers for some time.

Enter Gail Kim. A beautiful woman with fantastic ability in the ring and on the mic. Before she won the WWE Women’s Championship in her first match, Jim Ross had to convince McMahon that she needed to be signed. Ross opened up about the Gail Kim story on his show, The Ross Report, recently.

Vince was not sure about signing a woman with Asian descent, but JR had a good way to sell Vince on the idea of hiring her. Ross claimed to have told McMahon as follows.

“I remember Vince said, ‘You want to hire this Asian girl, right? I don’t know, I just don’t know.’ And I said, ‘Well Vince, you know, there’s a lot of guys that like Asian women. There’s Asian porn sites.’ “

Ross mentioned that he did vouch for the in-ring ability Gail Kim would bring in with her.

Kim responded to the comments via Twitter, saying as follows.

“Nothing I’m really surprised at concerning @VinceMcMahon yes it’s in poor taste but it’s his character.”

No one seems to hate Gail Kim. She was a great worker for WWE, but she really became a star in TNA Wrestling. She went back to WWE for a brief period of time, but was never really used well enough to even mention her run in public. She will probably never go back to WWE at this point, even with the ladies being used better.

At the end of the day, though, the fact that Jim Ross had to actually sell the merits of a woman to Vince based on the fact that porn exists with her descent is quite hilarious. The sad part of it all is that no one is really surprised, though. People can actually believe the story because back then, Vince was like this, and may still be today.
