Christine Bolden, Brain Dead Woman, Gives Birth To Twins

A woman in Michigan has given birth to twins after being declared brain dead. The woman, Christine Bolden, fell into a coma 6 weeks ago after suffering two brain aneurysms.

The twins, both boys, were delivered by C-section, and are only at 25 weeks. The two have been named Alexander and Nicholas.

Nicholas weighs 1 lb and 9 oz, and Alexander weighs a mere 1 lb and 4 oz. They are each about six inches long, and are severely premature.

Christine, 26, was walking out of a building on March 6th with her boyfriend and 3-year-old son when she had a sudden pain in her head, and then immediately collapsed.

Her aunt, Danielle Bolden, reported that, “It was a hurting feeling…going [to the hospital] seeing her laying there.”

She went on to say that, “We used to rub on her belly and talk to the babies…knowing that once the babies were born that was the end of her.”

Doctors were hoping that Christine would be able to carry the twins to full-term, however her blood pressure became too high to keep the babies safely.

Danielle also stated that:

“Once they were born and they wheeled them past us, everybody was anxious looking. It was hard. It was hard knowing that the babies would be born and she wasn’t coming home afterwards.”

Bolden is not the first to give birth to a baby while in a coma. In 2001 Chastity Cooper was able to carry her baby to full-term after being involved in a car accident. At the time of the accident, Cooper was only two weeks pregnant.

The boys were born on April 17th, and are doing well. Doctors expect them to pull through. Vance Terrell, Christine Bolden’s brother said:

“I can’t wait to be able to touch them and pick them up and tell them all about their mother and give them so much love. They’re so precious.”
