3 Reasons Whoopi Goldberg Is The Kind Of Friend We All Need

Whoopi Goldberg’s undying support for fallen comedian Bill Cosby has increasingly become the talk of the town. Whoopi is definitely that ride-or-die friend to turn to when you’re in need. We should all be so lucky to have a friend like Whoopi. Aside from cracking jokes to lift our spirits, here are a few reasons why we all could use a little Whoopi in our corner during the tough times.

She Doesn’t Flip-Flop

After Bill Cosby’s damning testimony surfaced, some of Cosby’s celeb supporters have started to back away, including R&B singer Jill Scott, who took to Twitter to voice her new position.

Twitter, as expected, was less than forgiving.

Seems like Jill could use a friend like Whoopi to defend her.

When Whoopi says she believes in you, she means it. Even in the face of mounting evidence and allegations that outnumber days in the month, Whoopi is unrelenting. Her support is evergreen.

“Not any of you threatening me or telling me you’re coming after me because you don’t like what I said is going to change the fact that no one has convicted him, he has not been arrested.”

She’s Not In The Closet About Her Support

Whoopi will go into the highways and byways declaring her undying support for you no matter where she is, even if she’s on the job. The View, where Whoopi works, has become the battleground where Cosby supporters square off against Cosby critics.

According to People, Whoopi’s staunch support of Bill Cosby has garnered not only death threats but celeb outrage, particularly from Janice Dickinson, one of Cosby’s more recent accusers.

“What is wrong with you, Whoopi Goldberg? What more does it take? You need to be fired, you stupid woman. That is ridiculous.”

The Hollywood Reporter cites Whoopi is that friend who believes wholeheartedly in “innocent until proven guilty.”

“It’s my opinion, and the American courts agree with me because he still has not been taken to trial or jailed on anything. So back off me!”

She’s bold in her assertion, though not necessarily correct. The American courts do not actually agree with Whoopi. The criminal court has yet to be involved in the case against Cosby because the allegations exceeded the statute of limitations.

She’s Got A Lot Of Ready Cash On Hand

According to Forbes, now that her New York loft and Vermont estate have been sold, Whoopi is selling her Berkeley Victorian for $1.2 million, leaving Whoopi with more cash on hand available for incidentals like Bill Cosby’s bail, or Cosby’s legal defense fund, should the Associated Press be successful in getting all Cosby’s court documents released. The Washington Post recently called Whoopi the “patron saint of lost causes,” defending the likes of Mel Gibson and Michael Vick. Her record is impeccable. Whoopi will definitely be that friend to the end.
