Jeff Bridges Selling $29.9 Million Estate In Montecito, California

Jeff Bridges is selling his $29.9 million home. The 19.5-acre estate is located in Montecito, California. “The Dude” and his wife, Susan Bridges, are in the midst of downsizing and recently purchased a smaller home in the area. The movie star’s home boasts 9,500 square feet and has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, according to Susan, 62.

The $29.9 million estate is Tuscan-inspired and was built in 1988. Jeff Bridges’ home also reportedly includes a music recording studio, small vineyard, guesthouses, a greenhouse for orchids, and an aloe tree collection, which is dear to the 65-year-old actor’s heart. The couple also owns a ranch in Montana.

Susan Bridges also noted that the $29.9 million estate was the primary home for the couple, and the place where they raised their three daughters. An area on the grounds Jeff Bridges refers to as the “fort” is located in a quiet and secluded spot and includes a hammock, benches, and swings. The actor occasionally made pottery in the space.

Jeff Bridges worked on some of his famous roles while living at the $29.9 million Montecito estate, including The Big Lebowski, True Grit, and Crazy Heart, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor in 2010. He also recorded some of his own songs at the home’s music studio, Bridges is currently filming the action-thriller, Comancheria.

Listing agent Suzanne Perkins of Sotheby’s International Realty, said the Jeff Bridges estate is a “rare find” in the Montecito area. Perkins noted that most listings in the affluent area are less than 3 acres in size.

According to listing details for the Montecito mansion, a stairwell beside the story-level master suite leads to a third-floor tower room. The study/meditation room features a fireplace and opens onto a “roof deck with panoramic views.” A 770-square-foot attached guest cottage features a living room with skylight, a galley kitchen, a fireplace, a bedroom, and a bathroom. There is also a 710-square-foot home theater on the property.

“Expanses of lawn and an elevated deck surround the swimming pool, which is edged with stone. A wisteria-covered trellis with outdoor fireplace, a kitchen, changing rooms and a bathroom complete the pool area. Fruit orchards, vineyards, hiking trails, a rustic playhouse and a footbridge over the stream are also on the grounds.”
